ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ - Molon Labe Pure .999 Solid Copper Round Coin

  • $ 299

Equipped with superior fighting skills, King Leonidas I led the Spartan warriors into battle against Xerxes I and his massive Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. Composed of roughly 300 Spartans, 400 Thebans and 700 Thespians, the Spartan army blocked the pass of Thermopylae, as the Persians were invading Greece. The outnumbered Spartans withstood for three days before ultimately falling in defeat of the Persian army, which consisted of an estimated 100,000 to 150,000 soldiers. Prior to the battle, the Persians demanded that the Spartans lay down their weapons and surrender. King Leonidas responded defiantly in Greek, “Molon labe!” The phrase means “come and take.” The king’s exclamation has inspired thousands in the centuries since — including us. Provident Metals is proud to offer the Molon Labe 1 oz Copper round, composed of 1 AVDP oz of .999 fine copper, and coming to you in brilliant uncirculated condition. The obverse features a Spartan battle helmet before two swords and five arrows. A banner above the helmet and across the weapons reads MOLON LABE. Another banner below the design is inscribed with the phrase in Greek, ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ. The reverse of each round is inscribed with the words COME AND TAKE IT, along with the design of a star, cannon and two crossing guns. The phrase, star and cannon were all used on a flag flown by Texans during the Texas Revolution. Today, more and more Americans identify with the expression “Molon labe,” as gun owners’ right to bear arms continues to be threatened. Molon labe is also used by the Greek First Army Corps and U.S. Special Operation Command Central. Challenge your foes to “Molon labe.” Add this affordable, one-of-a-kind 1 oz copper round to your stack and show your support for the Second Amendment.
